Chiang Mai Airport Transport

Public transportation is not allowed without passengers getting into the terminal building.

Outside the airport there are available shuttles, tuk-tuk, minubuses or bikes.

Within Chiang Mai Airport facilities, there are provided the following methods of transportation:

 

Taxi

Getting by taxi from the Chiang Mai Airport to downtown it is the best way to get straight to your final destination.

Please note that taxis don’t cross Chiang Mai city. To do so, we recommend you to take a Tuk-Tuk or a Shared Taxi.

Expect an average fare of 100-150 Baht to downtown.

Tuk-Tuk

Tuk-tuks are not allowed at the airport premises without passengers.

To take one, please get to the main street and flag down one.

Fares are around 100-120 Baht. We ought passengers to negotiate fares.

Bus

From Chiang Mai Airport there’s a bus service to the Old City which departs every 20 minutes.

Bus no.4, no.9 and no.10 offer this service.

Please note that the bus stop is located 100 m to the left of the termimal.

It is the cheapest mean of transportation to downtown even the less comfy.

Shared Taxi (Songthaew)

It is possible to pick up a shared taxi ride from Chiang Mai Airport. Please note that this kind of taxis are red.

They are located at the right side of the terminals exit.

The taxi ride is about ฿40. Beware of the reported scams regarding private service, they could charge you 200 baht for a one-way ride!

Most of the trips are made by minibuses and run only “from” the airport, not “to” the airport.

Hotels Transportation

Passengers can book a private transportation in advance with their respective hotels and pick it up at Chiang Mai Airport.

Private transportation fees depends on the hotel, it can cost around ฿580-฿590 but sometimes can cost more than ฿1300.

Cheaper transportation options:

ATT - Airport Transfer Services - Chiang Mai: ฿580/up to two people.

Oriental Escape - ฿700.

Motorbike

Passengers can rent a motorbike to explore Chiang Mai, Thailand, from the airport.

Passengers can purchase their ticket on the first floor of Chiang Mai Terminal, just opposite of the Arrivals.

Car Rental

Various car rental agencies provide service at Chiang Mai Airport.
